Introduction
Over a two-year period, Kelly had been working with key members of a UK-based project team providing 1:1 positive psychology coaching to strengthen leadership, career development, and wellbeing.
As the team approached an exceptionally busy and high-stakes phase of their project, the project manager recognised the risk of rising stress levels and the need to safeguard resilience. To address this proactively, Kelly and the project manager collaborated to design a multifaceted support solution to equip additional members of the team with practical tools and strategies to maintain wellbeing, reduce unnecessary stress, and perform at their best during this critical period.
Examples of Challenges

Wellbeing of team members during a critical and stressful phase of project delivery
Coaching and Wellbeing Approach
Based on the client’s challenges, Kelly partnered with an experienced wellbeing educator (also holding a MAPPCP degree) to design and deliver a proactive, strategic, evidence-based wellbeing programme. Together, they combined positive psychology and coaching psychology, creating a multifaceted concept tailored to the client’s needs.
To address the client’s needs, they implemented two complementary interventions:
-
90-minute interactive workshop
-
1:1 coaching engagements
Workshop
The workshop introduced participants to practical, evidence-based approaches to wellbeing, while also creating a shared language and foundation for ongoing development. Key topics included:
-
Foundations of wellbeing and evidence-based practices;
-
Introduction to the PERMAH wellbeing model;
-
Practical strategies to enhance wellbeing and embed a shared wellbeing language (PERMAH-based);
-
Building resilience, managing stress, and setting healthy boundaries;
-
Tangible methods for supporting each other’s wellbeing in the workplace.
Coaching
Following the workshop, participants were offered individual coaching to reflect on their insights, address immediate challenges, and build a tailored, sustainable wellbeing strategy grounded in the PERMAH model. This included:
-
6 weeks of support, comprising 2 × 45-minute sessions, 1 × 30-minute follow-up call, plus ongoing WhatsApp and email support;
-
A short questionnaire to identify personal goals and 2–3 work-related challenges;
-
Completion and debrief of the PERMAH wellbeing assessment;
-
Customised resources (exercises, worksheets, and tools) to support ongoing growth and progress towards goals.
Impact
In total, 7 engagements were completed.
The team was eventually informed that they were successful with their delivery.
Feedback from a participant:
“The coaching provided a safe and supportive space to explore both personal and professional challenges, from balancing work and family to building confidence and managing stress. The one-to-one sessions were tailored to individual needs, helping me gain insight, develop practical strategies, and navigate high-pressure situations more effectively. Across the team, I observed that during the coaching period, that morale was high, resilience and overall wellbeing were great, making a real difference during this demanding time.”
